Kimberly Garduno joined the City of DeSoto as Assistant to the City Manager in August 2020. Her primary responsibilities entail serving as Project Administrator for several programs including, STAR Transit, CDBG and the Economic Relief Programs funded under the CARES Act. Additionally, she issues the City Manager’s Weekly Report and provides oversight of the Action Center. Prior to joining the City of DeSoto, she served as Senior Management Analyst in the City Manager’s Office for the City of Mesquite. In this role, she was instrumental in implementing the City’s first On-Demand mobility service STARNow with STAR Transit and established an in-house CDL Program for service center personnel. Kimberly serves as Board Alternate on STAR Transit’s Board of Directors and interim representative for DeSoto on the Inland Port Transit Management Association.
Kimberly earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Baylor University and Master of Public Affairs (MPA) degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. In 2019 she completed the William “King” Cole Management training through TCMA and the Basic Economic Development Course through TEDC. She is a member of Urban Management Assistants of North Texas, the North Texas City Management Association, the Texas City Management Association, and the International City/County Management Association. Kimberly was raised in Los Angeles, but now calls Texas home.
