4th Quarter Update
September 2021

Thorntree failed to begin construction on the agreed upon façade improvements by the September 1, 2021 date as indicated in the Façade Grant Agreement. On September 15, the DDC issued Thorntree a Notice of Breach. During a subsequent meeting, Thorntree informed the steering committee of their intent to withdraw from the Facade Grant Agreement to focus their attention and resources on redeveloping an existing water well to secure a reliable water source for the golf course. On September 23, the DDC issued a Notice of Termination to Thorntree cancelling the Facade Agreement. Despite the lack of Thorntree’s follow through on the grant, the DeSoto Development Corporation, City Council, and staff have provided the opportunity for the golf course to conduct façade improvements through grant funding. This goal has been completed for FY 2021.
