The DeSoto Records Division is responsible for maintaining all records generated by the Police Department. Coordinator, Tiffanie Clark, and two full time technicians staff the Records Division. The staff answers all record requests from the public, other law enforcement agencies, Dallas County District Attorney, DeSoto Municipal Court, Child Protective Services and the U.S. Military. Open Records Request are the most time consuming of all tasks and increased by 2,500 from the previous year. The staff submits NCIC/TCIC validation reports to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) which helps analyze the FBI Crime Statistics for DeSoto.
The division also tallies the crime statistics for each month and for the year, and sends the information to the Federal Bureau of Investigations for their uniform crime report.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, The DeSoto Police Department has suspended fingerprinting services until further notice.
