ATTENTION:
The City of DeSoto will not be providing Food Handler Classes starting October 1, 2016 until further notice. Due to new Department of State Health Services Food Code regulations, State Food Handler Cards will be required for all food handlers in the state of Texas. DeSoto’s Food Handler Program is currently being audited by DSHS, and once it has been approved, the City of DeSoto will begin offering the class again. In the meantime, food service workers can take any State approved class to gain certification. A list of approved classes can be found below.

Employee food handler cards obtained through the City’s Food Handler Program prior to October 1, 2016 will be honored through the expiration date on the card.

Here is a list of state-approved online class providers.
