All homes and businesses that have an alarm system installed are required to have a permit from the city, even if the system is not monitored.

Annual Fees 
  • Residences: $25
  • Commercial: $50
  • Apartments: $25

Senior Citizen Benefits
Alarm fees are waived for persons 65 years of age and older. Seniors must provide proof of age when registering for the alarm permit.

Senior Citizens are subject to fines and fees resulting from false alarms.

How do I get a permit?

You have the choices listed below on how to apply and pay for your Alarm Permit:
1. You can save the form form off the website, fill it out and print it, and mail it in with a check or money order to:

2. You can fill out and print the form and bring it down to the City of DeSoto Utility Billing window and pay for it by check, cash, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover).
3. You can fax the Alarm Permit Application to 972-230-5795 and the Alarm Billing Representative; Christi Randle will take your payment by phone with one of the above credit cards. Before selecting this option, contact Christi Randle by phone at 972-230-9628 so that she can coordinate your fax with your payment over the phone.

Expired Permits
Expired Permits will be assessed a late fee if not paid prior to the expiration date.
