Zoning Ordinance
The Zoning Ordinance was adopted in August of 1997 and includes amendments that have been approved after that time. The zoning regulations and districts established in the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance have been made in accordance with an adopted comprehensive plan.

Protects & Preserves Places and Areas of:

• Historical Importance
• Cultural Importance
• Architectural Importance

They have been made with reasonable consideration, among other things, to:

• Reflect the character of the district
• Match the peculiar suitability for the particular uses specified
• Conserving the value of buildings
• Encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the city

Subdivision Ordinance
The Subdivision Ordinance was adopted in April of 2001 and includes amendments that have been approved after that time.

Purpose

• Provide for the orderly, safe and healthy development of the land with the City
• Protect and promote the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the City
• Guide the future growth and development of the City
• Provide for the proper location and width of streets and building lines
• Provide adequate and efficient transportation, streets, storm drainage, water, wastewater, parks, and open-space facilities
• Establish reasonable standards of design and procedures for platting to promote the orderly layout and use of land
• Ensure proper legal descriptions and monumenting of platted land
• Ensure that public infrastructure facilities required by the City ordinances are available with sufficient capacity to serve the proposed development
• Require the cost of public infrastructure improvements that primarily benefit the tract of land being platted be borne by the owners of the tract
