Thank you to all who came out and celebrated with us for the DeSoto Recreation Center Grand Re-Opening on Saturday, January 5, 2019. The event was a huge success and the Parks and Recreation staff was overwhelmed by everyone’s enthusiasm. Partners, members and citizens got the opportunity to tour the newly renovated gymnasium, track, aerobic studio and high performance training center. We would like to recognize our guest speakers, DeSoto Mayor, Curtistene S. McCowan and Park Board Chairman, John McCalib. Click here for recreation center hours.

DeSoto Parks are now officially equipped with Wi-Fi capability. In part of celebrating "Park and Recreation Month" DeSoto PARD hosted a Wi-Fi Launch Party on July 11. Wi-Fi is no longer considered an amenity, and has been identified by NRPA as a public utility. Access to the internet, so that we can be tethered to our smart phones, is a basic expectation. DeSoto Parks & Recreation is dedicated to NRPA’s commitment to create healthy, sustainable and equitable communities. We’re excited about this partnership with Spectrum, which provided the infrastructure which allowed us to promote digital literacy through access to Wi-Fi in DeSoto Parks.
