DCPAAA - DeSoto Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association

The DeSoto Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (DCPAAA) operates under the umbrella of the DeSoto Police Department. Many years ago, graduates of the DeSoto Citizen Police Academy formed their Association to provide input and support for the DeSoto Police Department. Over the years the organization has grown and become a very important resource for the police department and the community of DeSoto. DCPAAA members have provided countless volunteer hours and assisted the police department in many ways.

Organizational Purpose

The sole purpose of the DCPAAA is to form bonds within the community, and to assist and support the DeSoto Police Department. This is accomplished through a variety of different activities, including but not limited to:
  • Assisting various divisions within the police department with day-to-day activities
  • Assisting with the Citizen Police Academy
  • City-wide community events such as National Night Out, July 4th and Hometown Holiday
  • Providing educational programs at local schools
  • Providing customer service at the police station reception desk

Role of DCPAAA Members

While DCPAAA members are considered a part of the DeSoto Police Department family, members are not police officers and do not have the authority to act as police, and conduct themselves accordingly. Members frequently engage in CPAAA functions representing the police department, as well as the City of DeSoto and the community.

Meeting Dates and Times

The DCPAAA meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m., typically at the DeSoto Police Department Facility, located at 714 E. Beltline Road.
Meeting times and location are subject to change from time to time, and members will be notified through the Association e-mail listing.
Monthly business meetings often include educational topics and community interest items. Frequent “pot luck” meals, barbecues and “fun and games” nights are also hosted.

Requirements for Membership

DCPAAA members have attended and graduated from the DeSoto Citizen Police Academy.

Non-Profit Status
