Our role & Our mission
Human Resources (HR) serves as a partner to departments within the organization to provide advice, support, and recommendations to effectively utilize and manage the City's most valuable asset - its people!
Our strategic role is to provide an avenue by which managers can attract and retain quality employees. This includes compensation and classification, benefits administration, employee wellness, recruiting and retention, training and development, and recommending short-term and long-term human resource management.
HR consists of eight full-time, energetic employees who are committed to providing exceptional customer service to our external and internal customers.
We work together with other departments to symbolize the City's mission statement: "The City of DeSoto commits to provide, to its citizens, the highest standard of government services through constant productivity and persistent advancement, while fostering integrity, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.”

City of DeSoto Annual Employee Health Fair

There's no better way to ensure you are okay than to visit with a health professional.  The HR department will be hosting the city's Annual Employee Health Fair, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 10 am to 3 pm in the Bluebonnet Ballroom and Pecan Room. This year's health fair theme is "Better, Stronger, Healthier". Employees will have the opportunity to receive valuable onsite health screenings. From biometric testing to dental and vision screenings.  We hope to see you there!
